Bone Broth!

Updated: Apr 30, 2021

Did you know you can make your own bone broth?!?! Bone broth is not only SUPER easy to make, it is LOADED with nutrients! The best part... it can be made with ingredients that usually just get thrown away!

It is high in protein, vitamins, minerals, and collagen! Bone broth is also versatile. You can make it ahead of time, freeze it, and bring it out for different recipes such as soup. You can also drink it straight from the jar as a nice soothing hot drink that leaves you full and satisfied!

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 Lbs. of Bones- You can use a soup bone, leftover bones from a previous meal, (steak, chicken, ham etc.) Any bones work. After a meal, we stick our bones in a freezer bag kept in the freezer until we have enough to make bone broth.

  • 1 oz. Vinegar

  • 1 Gallon Water

  • Vegetable/Herb Scraps *OPTIONAL*: Same concept as the bones. Any leftover produce you have instead of throwing away, stick in a freezer bag until you have your desired amount! (Celery, carrots, onions, etc.)

  • Spices *OPTIONAL*: Feel free to add any and all spices to flavor up your broth. We like Sea Salt, Pepper, Turmeric, Garlic and dried herbs such as Rosemary, Thyme, and Oregano!

Instructions:

  • Boil your ingredients in a large pot or crockpot. Reduce to a simmer and cook for an additional 10-24 hours (the longer the better!)

  • Allow to cool, then strain through a cheesecloth.

Enjoy!
